Christmas Production – Community Auditions
Join us this Winter for our Christmas Variety Show + Nutcracker Suite and our “Land of the Sweets” Nutcracker Tea Party! You’ll enjoy our joyous and heartfelt celebration of the Christmas season with new and old Christmas pieces mixed with a suite of Nutcracker character dances all in a classic old variety show style!
Would you like to perform in our Christmas Variety Show and Nutcracker Suite? We’d love that! This year’s Winter production will offer opportunities for performers in multiple styles, including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and More!
AUDITION DATE: JULY 22, 2023
FEE: Free Audition
LOCATION: City Ballet Theater (2601 RangeLine St, Suite 105)
TIME: 12-1pm (Ages 6-10), 1:15-3:15pm (Ages 11-Adults)
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to audition time with hair pulled back and wearing class attire (leotard and tights for girls/women; dance shirt with dance leggings/dance pants for boys/men). Please bring ballet technique shoes (ladies who are on pointe and would like to be considered for pointe pieces/roles, please bring both technique and pointe shoes to the audition).
There will be a ballet class portion of the audition with a short barre and some center work, as well as a choreography and dance acting portion.
Some scenes will include interactions between younger and older dancers (such as parents and children in the party scene), so dancers ages 11 and up will participate in the entirety of their audition time slot (1:15-3:15pm).
Dancers who wish to be considered for the Christmas Variety Show should also prepare 30-45 seconds of whichever additional dance styles they would like to be considered for to perform CBT show choreography in our production. If you dance more than one style (such as tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, etc), please prepare 30-45 seconds of each style to audition with separately during the last portion of your audition time slot.
